NEWS RELEASE MARCH 2009 Pump Sales in 2009 Will Remain at $32 Billion Despite the recession sales of pumps in 2009 will remain at the 2008 level of $32 billion worldwide. There will substantial reductions in revenues in some markets but gains in others. This is the conclusion reached by the McIlvaine Company in the latest analysis in Pumps World Markets. Centrifugal pumps will be the biggest product group. Pump Revenues ($ Millions) Subject 2009 Centrifugal 23,872 Diaphragm 2,786 Reciprocating 2,330 Rotary 3,786 Rotary pumps will edge the diaphragm segment with $1 billion more in revenues. Reciprocating pump sales will be slightly lower than sales of diaphragm pumps. Some industries will show increases. They include municipal water and municipal wastewater. Combined, these two markets will generate $12 billion in revenues. The stimulus funding in the U.S. and China are the main drivers for this market increase.
