New Mercury Sampler Introduced
The Clean Air Mercury Rule requires that all coal-fired electric generation units provide continuous mercury monitoring by the year 2009. In order to determine compliance levels and develop control strategies, utilities need to obtain accurate and reliable mercury emissions data. Power generators may choose either Continuous Mercury Monitors (CMMs) or Sorbent Tube Monitors for mercury emissions monitoring.
Apex Instruments has introduced their newly-developed XC-6000EPC MercSampler for Sorbent Trap Monitoring Systems, designed for continuous sampling of vapor-phase mercury emissions from stationary combustion sources in accordance with 40 CFR Part 75, Appendix K. Paired samples are extracted from the flue gas for the desired time period, from several minutes to several days. Samples are analyzed for determining time-averaged emissions.
