Company Profiles
Pall Corporation is a world leader in fluid management with broad-base filtration and separations capabilities organized into two broad businesses: Life Sciences and Industrial. Sales for fiscal year 2009 at over $2.3 billion. Globally, 41 percent of sales were in Europe, 33 percent in the Western Hemisphere, and 26 percent in Asia.
Products include the Ultipleat High Flow filter, suited for applications such as cooling water, pre-RO, and resin trap filtration. It is a large diameter, coreless, single open-ended, pleated cartridge with an inside to outside flow pattern. The filter’s patented crescent-shaped pleat geometry, combined with its large 6"/ 152 mm diameter, reduces the number of filters and size of housing required. The cartridge is also available in a wide range of Pall media types for other applications.
Their PMF Medium employs extremely small diameter stainless steel fibers, producing media with absolute removal ratings that range from 2.5 micrometers to 40 micrometers in liquid service. Pall’s unique patented process uses extremely small diameter fibers, resulting in high void volume media with increased dirt capacity and long life. Pall manufactures three standard types of PMF medium: FH Series–High pressure (up to 1000 psi) (69 bar) pleatable media; FL Series–Low pressure (up to 250 psi) (17.24 bar) pleatable media; and FS Series–High dirt holding capacity in a profiled pore structure for polymer segment applications.
Pall’s Claris Series Filter Cartridges are melt blown filter cartridges for many industries, including chemical manufacturing, electronics, metal finishing and pharmaceutical. Included in the line are The POLY-FINE®ARD Series filter with layers of precisely defined melt blownsheets; the PROFILE® filter with its continuously graded pore structure; or the NEXIS® filter product with proprietary CoLD fiber technology.
Hundreds of assemblies and cartridges are in Pall’s catalogue, including: Novasip filters for sterile liquid applications, Fluorodyne II DJLP filters 0.1 micron rated sterilizing grade filters for enhanced sterility assurance, PallCell filter cartridges made with binder-free pure cellulose filter media, PCL series 3 and 12 cartridge filter housings to accept up to three or twelve double open ended DOE UniLoc or MC 1000 series industrial style filter cartridges, PMF medium media with absolute removal ratings that range from 2.4 micrometers to 40 micrometers in liquid service, SCY filter housing designed to be utilized for small flow liquid applications, typically less that 5 gallons per minute. Their Mustang Q capsules and cartridges are for process scale clearance of DNA, the IonKleen SL purifier has been specifically designed for the removal of metal ions from organic solvents or mixtures of organic solvents and resin.
Their small flow Emflon filter is recommended for chemicals which are compatible with PTFE and polypropylene. The high temperature filter EmFlon CPFR has been developed for long life and high strength; the EmFlon PFR feature chemically inert double layer polytetrafluoroethylene membranes, high area pleated with all polypropylene components. The Emflon PFA high flow sterile air membrane filter features an advanced hydrophobic polytetrafluoroethylene membrane designed to remove bacteria and particles from process air streams with minimal pressure loss. The small flow Emflon PF filter has an all fluoropolymer construction utilizing pleated filter media designed for the filtration of aggressive process fluids.
The HDC II all-polypropylene double ended cartridge incorporates proprietary HDC II tapered pore polypropylene depth media. The SuportLife 200 filter is validated, sterilizing grade featuring two layers of polyethersulfone membrane. For fast and economical alternative to larger volume sterilization applications the PharmAssure capsule is recommended.
Their Ultipor BPC bulk pharmaceutical chemical filter line is engineered specifically for fine filtration of solvents, pharmaceutical actives, organic fine chemicals, detergents and disinfectants at ambient or elevated temperatures to 176oF. The Ultipor VF grade DV50 virus removal filters are a robust means to remove viruses from liquids by microfiltration while permitting enhanced transmission of proteins. Small flow Ultipor filter is for point-of-use filtration of compatible fluids, primarily photolithography chemicals. Ultipor VF grade DV20 filters are integrity testable, direct flow filters for size exclusion removal of viruses as small as 20nm from biological solutions.
SUPORFLOW 0.1 µm and 0.2 µm pharmaceutical grade cartridge filters feature double layer hydrophilic polyethersulfone membranes. The Supor polyethersulfone membrane cartridges are validated 0.2 µm sterilizing grade filters with a unique combination of Pall Ultipleat filter construction and built-in prefiltration for longer filter life. The Profile AB style all polypropylene depth filer elements feature tapered pores that narrow to an inner absolute rated section.
The Posidyne filters incorporate a charge-modified Nylon 6,6 membrane which exhibits a positively charged Zeta potential in aqueous solutions. Their Bio-Inert filters feature a unique modification of Nylon 6,6 polyamide membrane which significantly reduces adsorption of proteins to the membrane pore surfaces. The Fluorodyne filter was developed to meet the more stringent requirements of today’s high purity DI water applications. The Ultipleat Posidyne II filter is the latest development in DI water filters for today’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturers. www.pall.com
