Liquid Filtration macrofiltration growth slow

but there are dynamic segments

Segments of the liquid filtration macrofiltration market will grow at close to double-digit rates, but the world market for the aggregate of various filter types included in this category will only grow at 3.5 percent per year from $4 billion this year to $4.6 billion in 2007. This is the latest forecast in the continually update Liquid Filtration and Media World Markets.

Growth rates differ by industry and by product.  The filter growth rate will be highest in the pharmaceutical industry and lowest in the metals industry.  Growth in the municipal drinking water category will be slowed by the loss of market share by granular media filters.  Membrane filters which remove sub micron particles and are, therefore, not included in this report are taking market share away from sand and other granular media filters.  The reason is that membranes are better at preventing water related illness.

In addition to granular media filters, the macrofiltration market includes bag filters, filter presses, drum filters, leaf filters, belt filters, belt filter presses, and automatic backwash (cleanable tubular) filters.  These cleanable tubular filters are the fastest growing product type.  Pall has just formed a partnership with W.L. Gore to provide a product in this category.  Several companies developed this technology for irrigation and have expanded rapidly into the industrial sector.  These filters are taking market share from disposable cartridges.  More than 50 companies offer products in this category.  RPA is the largest supplier in the group.  But even it does not have a dominant position.

Many of the products (filter presses and belt filters) are used in basic industries for filtering products.  Since the basic industry growth is higher in Asia than other continents, the market for these filters will grow faster in countries such as China.  In fact, by 2007 China will be the largest purchaser of filter presses.

The top ten purchasers in 2007 will be as follows:

                                                            Country

1.      China

2.      United States

3.      Japan

4.      Germany

5.      France

6.      Australia

7.      South Korea

8.      United Kingdom

9.      Canada

10.  Italy

The report includes forecasts for each filter type in each industry and in each country.  Market shares of suppliers are also provided.  For more information on Liquid Filtration and Media World Markets click on: http://www.mcilvainecompany.com/water.html#n006 or contact:
