Subject:  Belt Press Market in China is Booming

We not only provide 20,000 forecasts but we update the company profiles regularly in the Liquid Filtration and Media: World Markets report. GLV is one of the filter companies doing well.  Here is an excerpt from their profile:

During the three-month period ended June 30, 2003, GL&V posted net earnings of $2.7 million, up 41.9 percent over $1.9 million the previous year. Earnings per share amounted to $0.23 ($0.22 diluted) on a weighted average of 11.9 million outstanding shares, compared with $0.20 ($0.20 diluted) on 9.4 million shares a year earlier. “Apart from a greater than expected impact of the sharp rise in the Canadian dollar, first-quarter results are in line with our objectives.  EIMCO especially made an excellent contribution to GL&V’s sales and profit growth and its integration is a success across the board,” said Laurent Verreault, President and Chief Executive Officer.

China is a big market for belt filter presses now. The amount of new secondary treatment capacity in the pipeline is impressive. Belt filter requirements for power plant desulfurization will also be substantial. There will be more power plant belt filters in China than in the U.S., if China sticks to its plan.

The liquid filtration report includes subsidiary reports on each industry.  So for municipal wastewater there is a forecast of sewage transport, primary treatment, and secondary treatment for each country of the world.

Sales of equipment worldwide will rise from $2.6 billion in 2000 to $3.2 billion.  Sales of belts, bags, filter cloths, and other media will rise from $893 million to $1.1 billion.

The products included in this group will grow at different rates depending on the industries they serve and the penetration of those industries by the products.
