Chinese CTL and CTG Programs Will Boost Treatment Chemicals Market
China is launching a number of large coal-to-gas and coal-to-chemicals projects.
These projects will use as much treatment chemicals as the entire U.S. power
industry. China will convert about 800 million tons of coal to syngas and
700 million tons to chemicals and fuels each year. This is more coal than
consumed in the U.S. and Europe combined.
In addition, China will keep expanding its consumption of coal for power
generation which presently is over 3 billion tons per year.
Chemicals play an important role in the indirect gasification processes but they
are critical in direct liquefaction. In this process, coal is ground to small
size and then hydrogenated. Separation of the silica and other
contaminants is then accomplished. Information on this technology is
included in
N026 Water and
Wastewater Treatment Chemicals: World Market.
