One of the products with the best growth in the liquid filtration sector has been belt filter presses for dewatering sewage sludge.  China is rapidly expanding its secondary treatment capability.  Decanter centrifuges are the segment with the largest sales in the Sedimentation/Centrifugation category.  These devices compete with belt filter presses to dewater sewage sludge.  But these centrifuges are also widely used in chemical and food processing.

The Ultrapure Water market is small but growing rapidly. The semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and power applications comprise nearly the entire market.

Membrane cross-flow filtration using reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and microfiltration is a category with high growth rates in a number of segments including desalination and water treatment.  Residential filtration is important because of the unreliable public water supplies and rapid expansion of middle class purchasing capacity.

Cartridges are widely used in China for purifying water and process fluids. The residential, chemical, and pharmaceutical segments are substantial.  China is also a major exporter in this category.

China has a very large pump industry, but is also an importer of high performance pumps used in flood control, power, refining and many other applications.

The valve industry is structured much like the pump industry with large numbers of suppliers of lower performance valves and considerable imports of high performance valves.  China is also a major supplier of castings and other valve components.

The market for chemicals used in water and wastewater treatment is growing at 9 percent per year due to expansion of the power, chemical and municipal wastewater treatment segments.
