Subject: WWEMA, Municipal Projects, Markets
I will be meeting some of you for the first time at WWEMA in Jacksonville, FL next month. I will be the guest speaker on Friday. The speech will be a broad coverage of the world market for treatment equipment. In the U.S. over the next 10 years, the number of municipal plants will rise from 16,000 to 18,000. But most of the increase will come from the 3000 plants which now have tertiary treatment raising this total to 5,000 plants with tertiary treatment. The number of plants with primary and secondary treatment only will remain constant at 10,000.
The extreme drought in the southwest U.S. is likely to continue over the next few years according to the weather experts. This is going to cause a number of municipalities to turn to wastewater reclamation. Our online report RO/UF/MF World Markets reflects the revenue growth which will result from this activity. Membranes will be used in reclamation and also for desalination of seawater. Despite some problems with the Tampa facility, the pace is full speed ahead on desalination in California, TX, and some other coastal areas. Joe Schwartz of our company met a number of you at your WEF booths earlier this month. We are going to be incorporating the titles of the speeches given by wastewater plant operators and consultants into our U.S. Municipal Wastewater Facilities and People and our Consultant Profiles and People. Identifying the person who is giving talks on your types of products is very helpful in the sales effort. So we integrate this along with the contact and project information. The two databases are available together at a $600 discount from the individual prices.
