Nearly half the revenues will be derived from sales to improve food and beverage product. These process filters are frequently replaced. The other 50 percent of the revenues will come from the treatment of water and wastewater associated with processes. Specific applications are found in:

• Beer
• Wine
• Distilled Spirits
• Soft Drinks
• Fruit Juices
• Baby Foods
• High Fructose Corn Syrup
• Gelatin
• Edible Oils
• Flavors and Fragrances

Membrane cartridges compete with depth cartridges using diatomaceous earth and other filter aids.
East Asia is the fastest growing market. By 2019, sales of cartridges for food and beverage will exceed $200 million. NAFTA and Western Europe are net exporters of processed food and beverages. So filter use is relatively high in proportion to the food consumed in the two regions.
Pall, Clarcor, 3M, GE and Eaton are major cartridge suppliers to the food industry based in the U.S.
