Newly-released statistics by Beverage Marketing Corp. indicate that U.S. bottled water sales and consumption continue to rise, as consumers increasingly choose bottled water over other commercial beverages. This upward trend was reflected in 2005 when total bottled water volume exceeded 7.5 billion gallons, a 10.7 percent increase over 2004; and the 2005 bottled water per capita consumption level of 26.1 gallons increased by over two gallons, from the 23.8 gallons per capita the previous year.

Pentair Inc. expanded its Water Group division with the acquisition of Krystil Klear, a manufacturer of water filtration devices used in industrial settings.

 

Krystil Klear, based in Winamac, IN, was an $8-million division of Geyer Manufacturing & Design Inc., also based in Winamac, before the sale to the $2.95 billion Pentair.

 

"Pentair's existing filtration cartridges, coupled with Krystil Klear's strength in steel and stainless steel industrial housings, provides an expanded line of liquid filtration products for our customers," said Michael Schrock, Pentair's president and chief operating officer of Filtration and Technical Products, in a statement………………………………………………

 Clarcor Inc. reported results for the first quarter ended March 4, 2006. Sales in the first quarter of 2006 rose by $17 million, a 9 percent increase compared to 2005. Both operating profit and net earnings increased by 23 percent compared to the same quarter in 2005. Diluted earnings per share increased by 24 percent. Foreign currency fluctuations did not materially impact sales or net earnings for the quarter. Acquisitions completed after the first quarter of 2005 added $3.1 million to first quarter 2006 sales and $700 thousand to first quarter 2006 operating profit..................................................................................................................................

Puradyn Filter Technologies Incorporated announced financial results for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2005. Net sales for the year totaled approximately $2.5 million, approximately the same as the previous year. Net loss was approximately $3.19 million or ($0.16) per share, basic and diluted, as compared with a net loss of approximately $3.58 million or ($0.21) per share, basic and diluted, in the previous year.

Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation announced net income per share of $1.36 for the first quarter of 2006, an increase of 14 percent over net income per share of $1.19 in the first quarter of 2005.
