Dampers and Expansion Joints for Power Plants is the Subject of the Hot Topic Hour on April 23rd at 10 a.m. CST

Dampers and expansion joints are used throughout every fossil fueled power plant.  Although they are not “high tech” and are not often thought about, they play a very important role in the efficiency of the plant and proper operation of pollution control systems.

There are a number of different designs to choose from. Which damper or expansion joint is best for each application in your plant?  After considering life cycle cost and maintenance, what else do we need to consider when we specify new or replacement dampers and expansion joints? These devices have been around a long time.  Are there new designs and technology available or on the horizon we need to be aware of?  What are the elements of proper maintenance to insure long life and leak free operation?

The following speakers will address these concerns regarding dampers and expansion joints for the various applications in power plants.

Michael Green, General Manager, KE-Burgmann USA

Ron Maxwell, Manager, Damper Business Unit, Senior Flexonics Pathway

George Papailias, Marketing Manager, PAPCO Industries, Inc.

Jeffrey C. Korth, Vice-President, Sales, Effox-Flextor, Inc.

John A. Powell, Director, Isolation Products, Wahlco Metroflex,
