Biography of Chet Moon - Hot Topic Hour October 28, 2010

BIO: Education – Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Vanderbilt University 1992   Career – Worked with the R&D division of Reynolds Metals Company where I was involved in cell efficiency improvements and cell emission monitoring.  I joined Solutia in 1997 as a Sr. Research Chemist in the acrylic fiber division.  Later in my career at Solutia, I was named Director of Technical Services for the acrylic fibers division.  In 2005, I joined SIGroup in Freeport, TX as Manager of Quality Assurance for the Alkylphenol production unit.  In July 2008, I joined TFA as Technical Sales Engineer/Applications Manager for PTFE fibers and now serve as Technical and Applications Manager.

Toray High Performance Fibers for Low Sulfur Coal Application by Chet Moon, Toray Fluorofibers - Hot Topic Hour October 28, 2010

Chet Moon, Technical and Applications Manager at Toray Fluorofibers (America), Inc., presented performance data for the range of fibers Toray offers for filtration applications. He said that currently Toray PPS TORCON® is the most suitable fiber to meet most of the filtration needs of coal-fired boilers. However, in the future it may be necessary to utilize one of the more expensive Tefaire® and Teflon® products to meet the regulated limits.
