Biography:
Mr. WAN Bentai, Chief Engineer, Ministry of Environmental Protection
Present work, business and personal history: Mr. Bentai was born in Nong'an of Jilin Province in February, 1955. He graduated from Northeast Normal University and obtained a Master's Degree, majoring in Natural Geography. He joined the Chinese Communist Party in May of 1985. He obtained Doctor Degree and is a researcher.
He began working in Shenyang Environmental Monitoring Center in October of 1981.
From March, 1983 to April, 1984, he studied in Industrial Lab in Kanagawa Prefect., Japan.
From April, 1984 to December, 1988, he worked as Vice Director of the Division of Quality and later Director of Shenyang Environmental Monitoring Center.
December of 1988, he became Vice Director General of Department of Pollution Management of National Environmental Protection Bureau (September, 1989-July, 1992 Studied for Doctor Degree in the Department of Geography of Northeast Normal University majoring in economic geography).
December of 1990, he served as Director General of Department of Nature Conservation, National Environmental Protection Bureau.
April of 1993, he was Director of the Office of Environment and Resource Committee of National People's Congress.
August of 1994, he was Vice Director General and Director General of China National Environmental Monitoring Center.
From December, 2004 to August, 2008, he was Director General of Department of Nature and Ecology Conservation of SEPA.
August of 2008, he was appointed as Chief Engineer of Ministry of Environmental Protection.
