Varied Duties for Bekaert's Metallic Elements

Bekaert's Bekiflow®HG elements made of Bekipor® media (sintered metal fibers) are applied in a variety of high temperature applications.

In filtering alumina and alumina hydroxide Bekiflow®HG elements handle 130,000 Nm3/hour with a dust loading of 250-800 mg/Nm3. The discharged gas flow has <50 mg/Nm3. Each of the 960 elements provides 0.86 m2 filter surface yielding a total filter surface area of 830 m2. Peak gas temperature is 450°C. Maximum pressure differential is 1.5 kPa. Cleaning pressure is 3 barG and initiated every 60 minutes. Pressure differential is stable after 11,000 cycles.

At another application filtering magnesium oxide with particle size <1µ, 160 Bekiflow®HG elements see a dust burden of 30-50 g/Nm3 at a flow rate of 22,600 Nm3/hour. The gas is cleaned to <30 mg/Nm3. Cleaning frequency is 3 minutes at 6 barG. After 12 years of operation the pressure differential remains constant.

High durability of the filter elements is one of the benefits Bekifow®HG elements bring to filtering ammonia gas at a hydrogen cyanide plant. The plant reduced its usual 4 shutdowns per year to 2  after employing the Bekaert filters. The gas temperature is 550°C  and 100 percent of the dust particles are <3µ. Dust burden before the filter is 1000 mg/Nm3 and effluent gas is <10 mg/Nm3.  Maximum pressure drop is 2.0 kPa.
