Holland City Council (Michigan) approves 114 MW Natural Gas-fired Power Plant
The city of Holland (Michigan) and its Board of Public Works (BPW) will move forward with a 114 MW combined cycle natural gas-fired power plant. The city council voted 8-1 to approve a resolution of support for the BPW staff recommendation to build the power plant but not at the site of the James DeYoung power plant located near downtown Holland on Lake Macatawa.
Holland Board of Public Works hires NTH Consultants LTD for Air Permitting Help The Holland Sentinel Jan 07, 2013
A list of decisions still has to be made, officials said, for the building of a 114-megawatt natural gas plant to be realized in Holland. The first of those decisions — hiring NTH Consultants LTD at a cost of $45,000 to help with the air permitting process — was approved by the Holland Board of Public Works Board of Directors. The same company was hired when the BPW applied to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality for the permit to expand the coal burning capabilities at the James DeYoung power plant, Business Services Director Dan Nally said. The company assisted Consumers Energy with its recent air permit and the Lansing Board of Light and Power with its combined cycle natural gas plant, which will be similar to the new Holland plant, Nally said. The natural gas plant will be built at a new location, but a site has yet to be identified publicly.
