Consumers Energy plans to invest about $750 million to build a 700 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Genesee County, MI. Development of a new natural gas-fired power plant in Thetford Township is consistent with Consumers Energy’s plan to meet the needs of its customers over the next 20 years, said John Russell, the utility’s president and chief executive. Construction will begin in 2015 with service starting two years later.
