3M Aims Oxide Composite at Hot Gas
The 3M™ Oxide Composite Filter is a rigid, candle-type filter consisting of Nextel™ 610 ceramic fibers which reinforce an aluminosilicate matrix. The ceramic fibres toughen the composite construction and result in a filter with excellent resistance to thermal shock and catastrophic failure. The filter is used to remove particulate from high temperature gas streams up to 1650°F (900°C). The collected particulate is removed by reverse pulse jet cleaning. The high temperature capability of this filter can eliminate the need to cool the gas stream prior to filtration, which can increase process efficiency and eliminate the cost and complexity of gas dilution, air scrubbers or heat exchangers. The lightweight (less than 2 pounds), and long length capability (up to 2.5 meters), allow for new, unique, cost-saving system designs. The 3M Oxide Ceramic Composite Filter is designed for advanced coal-fired power generation systems and new innovative incineration applications.
